Ugly scenes marred West Ham's emotional farewell to the club's 112-year
home as supporters hurled bottles at the team bus of visitors Manchester
United ahead of tonight's game

the coach as missiles were hurled from home supporters. Despite their
predicament the footballers seem to be in good spirits

The
damaged bus, replaced for the return journey, finally stopped around
100 yards from the Upton Park entrance after being hemmed in by
supporters.
United
skipper Wayne Rooney said: ‘It wasn’t nice, obviously the coach was
smashed up. I’m sure you’ll see the images so it’s not for me to say,
but obviously it was disappointing. It’s a big night with West Ham
leaving the stadium but I’m sure they’ll be disappointed with what the
fans have done.’
West
Ham released a statement in the early hours of Wednesday morning
stating they will work with police to identify the culprits and issue
life bans.
The
statement read: 'It was an extraordinary night full of extraordinary
moments in front of extraordinary fans. 99 percent of whom behaved
impeccably and were a credit to the Club.
